Cianjur is My Special Hometown

Assalamualaikum..

Dear Everybody,

Let me introduce my self before, my full name is Dhea Anandha Aulia, but you can call me Dhea or Dheandha. Today when I am studying on the sixth floor of analyst building in my beloved campus, Politeknik Kesehatan Jakarta 3, I see a beautiful object on my right side. I see a landscape with pretty blue sky and green trees. Whenever I remember a view with blue sky and green trees, I can only remember one thing, my hometown.

My brain starts to fantasize, as if the view that I am seeing now is my hometown. There are many special things about my hometown that I remember.

So I want introduce you about my hometown..

It is located in a small village called Tegal Laja, Babakan Karet Village, Cianjur District, Cianjur Regency, West Java. If you curious to see the view, it will be like this.

There lays several mountains like Gede Mount, Pangrango Mount, Sanghyang Tapak Mount, and Malang Mount. No wonder the wheather is very cold. Especially with the clean and clear water which comes directly from the mountains. That is why many tourists choose to come to Cianjur visiting mountains for recreations, and enjoying the most beautiful landscape.

·         TOURS

Moreover, there are also some tourist attractions located near my hometown such as Cipanas Tourism Park, Cirata Reservoir, Cibodas Botanical Garden, Gunung Gede Pangrango National Park, Telaga Biru, Cibeureum Waterfall, Curug Citambur, Curug Batu Lempar, Sukanagara South Cianjur, and many more. There are all are ‘the must visiting’ places. On this blog, I will share some moments when my big family and I visited those places.

NATURE

Besides, behind my grandmother's house there are a river called Ciseeng River. The river starts from two mountains are Salak Mount and Sanghyang Tapak Mount, and ends at Cirata Reservoir. The length of the river is approximately 40 km. Due to the clean water, local residents usually use the river for their daily needs such as washing, bathing while swimming, and many more.

PEOPLE

Cianjur is famous with it’s wide agricultural land. That is why the average people there are farmers. To be honest, my grandmother is also a farmer who owns her own rice field, so that she can produce rice from her rice field. Almost everyday in the morning, afternoon, and evening, she comes to her rice field from her house, which take about 3 km from the village, to plant paddy seeds in order to raise good quality rice which is ready to be marketed to local people.

CULINARY

Above all, I also want to introduce local culinaries in cianjur, like:

1. Geco (Tauge and Tauco)

It is made from boiled soybean seeds, mashed and stirred with flour and then let the alone until mushrooms grow (fermentation).
The process to ferment tauco is by soaking it in salt water, letting it dry in the sunshine for several weeks until it’s spesific tauco aroma comes out or when the marinade turns reddish brown.

2. Asinan Cianjur and Manisan Cianjur

Asinan cianjur made from various pickled fruits like manggo, salak, pineapple, nutmeg, mirage, papaya, yam, cucumber, and others. The taste of pickles are sour and spicy yet makes you addicted.
Not like any other sweets in different places, in Cianjur candied fruits are placed into a row of huge glass jars and become a very appealing decoration.

When you are in Cianjur, through the streets you will find stores selling various tasty unique pretty colourful pickles and sweets, whatever it is will make you curious to try.

3. Mochi

Mochi is a kind of common and typical food or snacks in Cianjur. Dont be amazed, along the streets heading the city there are many stores selling different types of mochi with various fillings. Mochi is made from smashed glutinous rice flour or rice flour, formed into small balls in order to be easy to eat, then filled with various tastes. They are usually original taste, green bean, red bean, sesame, pandanus, durian, strawberry, mocca, chocolate, milk, cheese and more. Therefore, mochi has become one of the most best selling Cianjur culinary in the market for it’s delicious taste and liked by many people in Indonesia.

Furthermore, Cianjur has also many souvenirs which are the product from Cianjur cultural craft, such as:

CONCLUSION

Cianjur is a small city with many cultures, culinary, natural beauty, also it’s friendly people. It is visited by many tourists during long holiday, like in Eid Mubarak, Eid ul Adha Mubarak, end of semester, and others. That’s why friends, don’t forget to come to Cianjur, so that you can enjoy so many unexpected and amazing experiences.

Here we know that a small village like Cianjur can have so many cultures and uniqueness which not owned by any other region. Now, it is a proof that in a small area we can find so many unique cultures and characteristics. Then we can compare and combine with other country, what if they stick together, called Indonesian culture. It will be very rich right? So we as Indonesian college student must be proud of our cultures, traditions, and amazing things from all over the country. Our duty as Indonesian people is to preserve our culture so that it wont fade and gone replaced by the modern era.
